Education Law Center’s Letter to the School District of Philadelphia

The female members of PowerCorpsPHL worked with the Education Law Center (ELC) surrounding the pushout of black girls in schools.  PowerCorpsPHL members attended a book talk organized by ELC, then ELC hosted a listening session for the female members of PowerCorpsPHL about their experience with the School District of Philadelphia.  Following that listening session, two members, acting as individuals, provided a testimonial to the ELC about their experience as children in the School District of Philadelphia. The ELC wrote a letter appealing to the School Reform Commission of the School District of Philadelphia to eliminate suspensions for kindergarten through second grade students.

The School Reform Commission granted the appeal, the School District of Philadelphia will no longer suspend kindergarten through second grade students!
