Parks & Recreation October Newsletter

PowerCorpsPHL’s environmental impact thus far this year was highlighted in Philadelphia Parks & Recreation’s October Newsletter.

To date in 2016, PowerCorpsPHL members achieved the following through their projects:

  • Restored a whopping 898 acres of public land in the City of Philadelphia (an area larger than the size of Central Park)
  • Planted 999 new trees and plants
  • Restored 944 existing trees from vines and invasive species
  • Engaged 183 volunteers from the community
  • Collected a total of 272,309 pounds of waste, diverting 202,820 pounds of that waste from the landfill, meaning that 74% of the waste that was collected by PowerCorpsPHL members was recycled
