The Power Pack at Pennypack Park

A South Philadelphia native, Michael is excited to work as the crew leader for the Power Pack. He feels that the the best part of being a founding PowerCorpsPHL crew leader is being on the ground floor and helping to see the program through its growing pains.  Michael is proud of his abilities to exhibit leadership, commitment and flexibility. He anticipates that years from now, after the PowerCorpsPHL program has flourished, he will be able to look back on this time and say with pride that he was a part of the original group of leaders. So far, Michael has loved to witness his crew’s excitement at getting jobs done and taking ownership of their accomplishments. One year from now, he plans to be working with his 3rd cohort and answering calls from employers that will be seeking out references for PowerCorpsPHL alum!

KyleBayne_7931Kyle is a North Philadelphian who prides himself as a good listener that is a dedicated and loves to help people. He feels that the best part of being a PowerCorpsPHL member is bonding with his crew members and getting to know and trust them. Kyle loves that this experiences surrounds him with others that are similarly dedicated to working hard. Kyle is happy that PowerCorpsPHL is in his life, broadening his horizons and opening his heart. Kyle aspires to continue to advance himself to the best of his ability. In the future, he hopes to maintain a full-time job and own his own house and car.

Frederick hails from Frankford and brings his outgoing, honest, and loyal nature to the Power Pack crew. Frederick loves that working with PowerCorpsPHL provides him with a chance to meet all types of new people. At the same time, he appreciates that it is an opportunity to give back to his city. Frederick plans to be working hard in the future and setting himself on a path in which he is enjoying life.

Learning how to trust other people and helping others get over their fears while getting over her own

Kenya, from North Philadelphia, feels that the best part of being a PowerCorpsPHL member is spending every day  around positive people with supportive attitudes – especially her crew leaders. She is happy to have this opportunity to build her resume, do something constructive every day, and work to improve the environment for the sake of future generations. One year from now, Kenya hopes to be enrolled in college, studying to be a registered nurse.

Shafic is a West Philadelphia native thankful for this opportunity to get a new perspective on life as a founding PowerCorpsPHL member. He feels blessed to have the ability to adapt and learn new skills through the PowerCorpsPHL program. Shafic is also happy that he has met many loyal people through the program who have their own aspirations of success. Shafic looks forward to the future. He hopes to have a career with a high paying salary one day.

Watching his team’s idea materialize has been a meaningful experience for him. One year from now, Michael plans to be moving forward in his education.

Nadira considers herself a determined, open-minded and social person from West Philadelphia. To Nadira, the best part of being a PowerCorpsPHL member is feeling like she is part of a second family. She enjoys learning something new each day from her fellow crew members.  One year from now, Nadira plans to be maintaining a stable job and hopes to find work in a field that interests her.

Shavida is from Upper Darby and exemplifies the abilities of a great listener and leader. She prides herself for her abilities to multitask as a mother that also works full-time as a PowerCorpsPHL member. Shavida feels that to be able to wake up every day and get to work alongside her fellow crew members to improve the community and environment is the most rewarding part of being a PowerCorpsPHL member. One year from now, Shavida plans to continue working to give back to her community.

Wayne is proud of the insight, drive, and level of enthusiasm he brings to PowerCorpsPHL.
