Shaneeta Bagley is excited to work as a founding Crew Leader for PowerCorpsPHL and set the standard for everything the program stands for and believes in. She was recruited for her Crew Leader position by Education Works. Shaneeta prides herself for her civility, personal integrity and authenticity. So far, her proudest moment while working with PowerCorpsPHL was when she walked 15 PowerCorpsPHL members to the Aramark building for their first interview at the Philadelphia Water Department. She found it extremely rewarding to see cohort members’ faces light up and witness how honored and excited they felt to be at such an accomplished place in their lives. One year from now, Shaneeta plans to be working with her 3rd cohort of PowerCorpsPHL members.

Proudest aspect of working with PowerCorpsPHL so far:
The fact that he and his peers are the first to ever be a part of this program and have the ability to set the bar high for future cohorts

Christopher hails from West Philadelphia. He has great interpersonal skills and always pushes himself to reach his goals. Christopher also wants to help the program gain new partners so that the next cohort may have even better opportunities. Christopher feels blessed to have the opportunity to work so closely with the Philadelphia Water Department. One year from now, Christopher aims to ideally work with the Philadelphia Water Department,  or else to work in the field of construction.

Taking care of the community and making a positive change

Juan hails from North Philadelphia and is happy to be one of the founding members of PowerCorpsPHL. He believes the best part of being a PowerCorpsPHL member is being a member of the group atmosphere it creates. Juan truly feels as though his team members are a family to him now, and that every member is beneficial in his or her own unique way. For Juan, working for the Philadelphia Water Department has been the greatest opportunity. He has learned to understand the process that water goes through to be cleaned and sent to the public and he wants to thank the PWD for giving him a chance to show his skills. One year from now, Juan hopes to be a certified electrician for the PWD. He hopes to become beneficial to the community as a master of his craft.

Waking up every morning to put on his Philadelphia Water Department uniform

Jamar, from West Philadelphia, is proud of his ability to stay dedicated and attend PowerCorpsPHL events on time. He feels lucky to have Ms. Shaneeta as his crew leader. Jamar is thankful to have this opportunity to work with the Philadelphia Water Department and to find that he truly loves the work he is doing with the PWD. One year from now, he hopes to be working with the Philadelphia Water Department.

When he started the program at the Philadelphia Water Department, Kevin had the opportunity to finally face his fear of heights while participating in a team building session at Outward Bound

Kevin is a quick learner and team player from South Philadelphia.  PowerCorpsPHL has been a great opportunity for Kevin to connect prior knowledge and experiences that he acquired when he worked at a previous job with Parks & Recreation to what he is now learning as a PowerCorpsPHL member serving with the Philadelphia Water Department. One year from now, Kevin hopes to be a full-time employee at the Philadelphia Water Department

Taking part in the Greater Philadelphia AmeriCorps Launch, because it made him feel like he was part of something big, having been welcomed into a larger group of young adults committed to making Philadelphia a better place

Giovanni comes from North Philadelphia and proudly describes himself as a flexible team player who is always willing to take on a challenge.  As a PowerCorpsPHL member, Giovanni enjoys working with his peers to make the environment better. He is happy to be working with his Crew Leader, Miss Neeta, because she is so positive and always pushes him to do more.  Giovanni is also pleased that his role as a PowerCorpsPHL member has enabled him to meet new people from other organizations.

When he was first selected to receive an interview to serve with the Philadelphia Water Department

Thomas  is a North Philadelphia who brings charisma, ambition, and a strong work ethic to his crew. Thomas never would have imagined that he might have the opportunity to serve in the Philadelphia Water Department one day. He truly values the opportunity that he has to work with the PWD now thanks to his role as a PowerCorpsPHL member. Thomas hopes that by working hard, he can use this experience to set him on the path to a great career. He aspires to work full-time with the Philadelphia Water Department in the future.  Thomas would like to go back to school to improve his career opportunities and further aspires to be the best father he can possibly be.
