Meet Cohort 2 Crews: The Water Crew

Shaneeta Bagley (Crew Leader)

Shaneeta is excited to work as a founding Crew Leader for PowerCorpsPHL and set the standard for everything the program stands for and believes in. She prides herself for her civility, personal integrity and authenticity. So far, her proudest moment while working with PowerCorpsPHL was when she walked 15 PowerCorpsPHL members to the Aramark building for their first interview at the Philadelphia Water Department. She found it extremely rewarding to see cohort members’ faces light up and witness how honored and excited they felt to be at such an accomplished place in their lives. One year from now, Shaneeta plans to be working with her 3rd cohort of PowerCorpsPHL members.

Christopher served as a member of the first cohort and is now serving his second term with PowerCorpsPHL. 
Age: 20

Christopher hails from West Philadelphia. He has great interpersonal skills and always pushes himself to reach his goals. Christopher also wants to help the program gain new partners so that the next cohort may have even better opportunities. Christopher feels blessed to have the opportunity to work so closely with the Philadelphia Water Department. One year from now, Christopher aims to ideally work with the Philadelphia Water Department,  or else to work in the field of construction.

Juan served as a member of the first cohort and is now serving his second term with PowerCorpsPHL. 
Age: 26

Juan hails from North Philadelphia and is happy to be one of the founding members of PowerCorpsPHL. He believes the best part of being a PowerCorpsPHL member is being a member of the group atmosphere it creates. Juan truly feels as though his team members are a family to him now, and that every member is beneficial in his or her own unique way. For Juan, working for the Philadelphia Water Department has been the greatest opportunity. He has learned to understand the process that water goes through to be cleaned and sent to the public and he wants to thank the PWD for giving him a chance to show his skills. One year from now, Juan hopes to be a certified electrician for the PWD. He hopes to become beneficial to the community as a master of his craft.

Jamar Larry

Jamar served as a member of the first cohort and is now serving his second term with PowerCorpsPHL. 
Age: 21

Jamar, from West Philadelphia, is proud of his ability to stay dedicated and attend PowerCorpsPHL events on time. He feels lucky to have Ms. Shaneeta as his crew leader. Jamar is thankful to have this opportunity to work with the Philadelphia Water Department and to find that he truly loves the work he is doing with the PWD. One year from now, he hopes to be working with the Philadelphia Water Department.

Dajuan finds it exciting to get up and go to work every day. He views his role as a corps member as a chance for him to improve his life. He aspires to have a steady life and career and be the best in his field.

Marcus feels excited to have the support of the staff and crew leaders that aim to support each and every corps member. He says that they set the bar high, expect nothing but the best, and aim to see every corps member succeed. He is proud of his ability to satisfy the expectations of these leaders. As a PowerCorpsPHL member, he feels good being a part of something bigger than himself. He aspires to one day obtain employment with the Philadelphia Water Department. Marcus also plans to enroll in college and major in creative writing and journalism.

Hyneith is proud of himself for being involved with PowerCorpsPHL because he is challenging himself and trying something new. He is excited at the prospect of learning how be more professional, and already feels he has learned a lot. He hopes to one day work in a job that can lead into a career.

Donnell is enjoying serving with PowerCorpsPHL and learning about the environment. He is excited about the opportunities that may be available after his term of service, and hopes to one day work at the Philadelphia Water Department. He aspires to be mature, responsible, hardworking and employed. He hopes to live comfortably both financially and mentally. Donnell is proud to be a member of PowerCorpsPHL because it is a program that is helping the city by doing its part to make the city greener. Personally, his proudest moment as a corps member was when he learned that he was accepted to serve with the Philadelphia Water Department.

Keith is excited about the hard work and teamwork that he partakes in as a corps member. He intends to go to school after he finishes serving with PowerCorpsPHL. Keith is most proud of his son and how coachable he is, how fast he learns, and how well he performs in sports and in school.

Christopher is excited that by serving with the Philadelphia Water Department as corps member, he has the opportunity to broaden his electrical experience. He is proud of all of accomplishments and aspires to own his own business one day.
