Drew Rinaldi Subits (Lead Crew Leader)
Drew Rinaldi Subits joined us in Cohort 3 as a Parks and Recreation Crew Leader. Prior to that, he had been a Social Studies teacher throughout Philadelphia for 8 years, serving students in both public and charter schools, as well as coaching soccer, basketball, football, and track & field. He also began and facilitated youth leadership programs such as youth congress, peer mediation, chess, and gardening/outdoors clubs at the various schools in which he worked. He loves working with youth because he loves their energy and it inspires him when young people make positive decisions to better themselves and those around him. He loves doing hands-on environmental work because it helps to reconnect people with the most basic elements of life and nature, and most importantly because now the future depends on it.
Drew studied Journalism, Political Science, and History at Temple University, where he was also a two-year member of the Men’s Soccer Team. He later went back to Temple to earn his Master’s Degree in Social Studies Education. Drew is a NOFA Accredited Organic Land Care Professional, earned his OSHA 10 Construction Safety Certification, and is a Certified Roots of Success Instructor. He has also completed Waders in the Waters Level: Aquatic Restoration Training and Bartlett’s Annual Tree Care Update. He is originally from Allentown, PA.
Jermaine Brown (Floating Assistant Crew Leader)
My name is Jermaine, I’m 27 years old and I’m from North Philadelphia. I’m an Assistant Crew Leader for the Lead Crew Leader at PowerCorpsPHL. I love helping people and impacting my community in a positive way. I chose to return to PowerCorpsPHL as an Assistant Crew Leader because I want to help the organization reach more young adults. Instead of telling members what they can’t do, we give them tools to use when they are ready to do what they need or want. I am motivated when I wake up every morning knowing I’m making an impact on my community. I’m looking forward to being successful in life.
