Khalil Carter (Crew Leader)Khalil-Carter

Mr. Khalil Carter is a Philadelphia native and a dedicated Crew Leader with PowerCorpsPHL. In this role, he leads a team while providing all aspects of support, including mentorship, advocacy and empowerment. A big believer in networking, he encourages development of soft skills, strengthening forms of communication and building interpersonal relationships. Mr. Carter is no stranger to service, having spent several years in medical and customer service fields. He has also committed to volunteer service of thousands of hours throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia. Because of his passion for helping others, he was awarded The Presidential Volunteer Service Award signed by President Bush.

Before joining PowerCorpsPHL as a Crew Leader, Mr. Carter served as a member in Cohort 4. After a 6 month term of service, he went back to work for some of the biggest companies in  the city, which includes The City of Philadelphia but lacked fulfillment. A year after completing the PowerCorpsPHL experience, the opportunity to give back and better his hometown was presented in the form of Crew Leader.

Mr. Carter helps inner city young adults to step out of their comfort zones by challenging them to play key roles in rebuilding their communities and being ambassador for change. Drawing on his personal hardships of growing up in Philadelphia, he knows how deeply the city lacks positive reinforcement for its youth, communities and environments and wants to be a powerful force in its growth. Passionate about opportunities and possibilities, Mr. Carter provides direct supportive services that help members tap into dormant potential. He believes that perseverance through trials and tribulations builds character and brings success. He will continue to challenge both his crew and himself to reach for goals that may not have seemed achievable or may have been unforeseen prior to the PowerCorpsPHL experience.
